Not only is the level of care important but also the daily living experiences which also promotes health in a number of ways. We understand the importance of mental and social well-being by providing a varied and stimulating environment where a resident can chose to partake in as little or as much that the home provides.

We therefore have individual facilities allowing different and varied leisure activities such as our own pub, The Railway Tavern and our 1920’s themed theatre. This means that our residents can maintain their independence by doing the things they have always done such as have a beer and a ploughman’s lunch in the Tavern or watch a show in the theatre without having to leave the safety and comfort of the home. In addition we have a library, hairdressing salon, and an activities room with a kitchen for residents to do their own baking. The whole living experience has been described as being on a cruise ship.

Even dining becomes a welcoming and stimulating experience with our open plan kitchen and dining room where residents can see their lunch being prepared and pass any specific requests straight to the chef. In addition we have other smaller dining rooms should a resident like to have lunch with their family. In most homes the food just arrives in the dining room on a trolley. We pride ourselves in doing things a bit different at Burwood.

Our bedrooms are attractively furnished and are designed with floor to ceiling windows so residents can enjoy the views from anywhere in the room. In addition the rooms have balconies for sitting outside or somewhere to keep pot plants and watch the birds feeding. This is so important for less mobile residents. All rooms have ensuite wet rooms and hoist systems within the ceiling to provide safe and ease of movement. The rooms include wall mounted televisions with internet access to allow for the use of skype and iplayer. Also available in the rooms are fridges and all rooms come with extra low electric profiling beds.
